How to get AMAZING pictures of your Live Dance Show!

We’re talking about making the most of your live show photos – getting gorgeous, powerful images that you, your dancers & parents will love.

AND making sure your photos truly reflect your dance school, so you can use them with pride in your marketing & on social media, to fill your classes this year!

Just like Jo, from Dance Steps Academy (more on that in a minute).

As a creative & a photographer, it’s no surprise I love dance. Capturing bursts of beauty & movement isn’t easy. It takes time, practice (20 years & counting) and a very specific skill set.

I’ve just counted & we’re up to well over 500 regular dance school clients – large and small. That’s how much I love it!

So before we dive into Jo’s story, here’s some useful tips to ask your photographer (and the reasons our clients say they choose us):

• Are you sending specialist photographers for our show – who are fully-trained & used to shooting live dance? What experience do they have? Can we see pictures from multiple shows, to see your style?

• Do you have high-end specialist cameras, for the low light conditions of a theatre?

• Do your photographers know how to be discreet in the theatre – so as not to distract the dancers or the audience?

• Do you offer secure viewing galleries for our parents – and are your download & print options truly affordable for them?

So! I thought I’d share Jo from Dance Steps Academy’s story with you this week – because it truly shows the power of amazing dance photography.

Dance Steps Academy have one of the best teaching teams in Essex. They run classes from 2-years-old to adult dance & fitness, right up to professional level.

Jo and her team run a full-scale theatre production every two years, which all classes take part in.

Each Instagram post is carefully branded to reflect her target market for each class, in the fonts, style & language she’s chosen. There’s a clear call to action & the photos are a careful balance of inspirational & accessible. And I especially love the second post here, which truly captures the joy of dance:
